Los Angeles Mayoral Forum Canceled After Leading Candidates Withdraw
A televised forum for the Los Angeles mayoral race was canceled after key candidates withdrew their participation. Initially, Mayor Karen Bass had committed to the forum but later decided to withdraw to focus on lobbying state officials in Sacramento for funding on issues such as homelessness and fire recovery. Following Bass's withdrawal, City Councilmember Nithya Raman also pulled out, citing her primary reason for attending was to debate Bass. The third leading candidate, Spencer Pratt, had already declined due to a scheduling conflict. With only two remaining candidates, Rae Huang and Adam Miller, the event organizers, including the Pat Brown Institute of Public Affairs and the League of Women Voters, decided to cancel the forum. This forum was intended to be the last major event before the June 2 primary.
