Morgan Business Sales Reports Surge in Australian Telecommunications M Activity
Morgan Business Sales has released a report detailing a significant increase in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within Australia's telecommunications sector. The report highlights that the sector generated A$34.7 billion in annual revenue and saw an 8% rise in mid-market deal activity in 2025. The first half of 2026 marked the strongest M&A performance since 2021, with 51 verified transactions. The report identifies four main groups within the sector: incumbents managing decline, challengers growing through acquisition, infrastructure platforms targeting enterprise and government customers, and a new data center and fiber layer attracting global investment. Notable transactions include Aussie Broadband's acquisition of AGL Telco and Superloop's purchase of Lightning Broadband. The report also notes that private equity firms and offshore buyers from the U.S., Canada, and Japan are active in the market.
