Astrolab's First Lunar Rover to Carry NASA Payloads on Upcoming Mission
Astrolab has announced that its first lunar rover, the FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform (FLIP), will carry four NASA payloads on a mission set to launch later this year. The payloads include a camera and radiometer for helium-3 detection, a lunar retroreflector array, a dust level sensor, and a lidar demonstration payload. These payloads are part of nonreimbursable Space Act Agreements with NASA, allowing for rapid negotiation and integration into the mission. The rover will be launched on Astrobotic's Griffin-1 lander via a Falcon Heavy rocket from the Kennedy Space Center.
