Global Heat Wave Intensifies, Driven by El Niño and Climate Change
Record-breaking heat waves are impacting multiple regions worldwide, fueled by El Niño, unusually warm ocean waters, and man-made climate change. Western Europe, which experienced its hottest June on record, is now facing another round of extreme temperatures alongside devastating wildfires. In the western United States, cities like Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and parts of Montana are bracing for extreme heat, with temperatures expected to reach up to 115°F (46°C). Asia, including South Korea and Japan, is also experiencing searing heat. The phenomenon is exacerbated by heat domes and a wavy jet stream, which locks high-pressure systems in place, allowing tropical air to push northward. Regional weather factors, such as Hurricane Genevieve off Mexico's coast, are contributing to the heat by injecting energy into the atmosphere. These conditions highlight the growing impact of climate change on global weather patterns.
