UK Government Pledges Support for Struggling Local Museums
The UK government has announced a commitment to support local museums facing financial difficulties. This comes in response to the temporary closure of the Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft, which has become emblematic of the financial struggles faced by independent museums. The government has introduced the £127.8 million Arts Everywhere Fund, which includes allocations for urgent repairs and upgrades to several museums. However, experts warn that these one-time grants may not address the long-term financial sustainability needed to keep these institutions operational.
