NY Rep. Mike Lawler Reports Antisemitic Insults from Rand Paul's Son at DC Bar
New York Representative Mike Lawler has recounted an incident involving William Paul, the son of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, at a Washington D.C. bar. According to Lawler, William Paul engaged in a 'ten-minute diatribe' filled with antisemitic and homophobic remarks. The confrontation occurred at the Tune Inn bar, where Lawler was dining with a friend and a journalist. William Paul allegedly blamed Jewish people for Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie's challenging primary campaign, among other derogatory comments. Lawler, who is of Irish-Italian descent, clarified to Paul that he is not Jewish, to which Paul responded with an apology that Lawler found remarkable. The incident has drawn criticism from the Anti-Defamation League, which condemned Paul's comments as 'disgusting and dangerous.' Lawler has been vocal in Congress about rising antisemitism in the U.S., recently co-authoring a resolution condemning antisemitic rhetoric from online personalities.
