AdventHealth Waterman Foundation Initiates Wellness Trail Construction in Tavares
The AdventHealth Waterman Foundation has begun construction on a new Wellness Trail around Lake Etowah in Tavares, Florida. This project aims to extend AdventHealth's mission of promoting wholeness by providing a natural space for physical health and community connection. The trail, led by Executive Director Mabel Valdivia, is funded through donor support, fundraising galas, and community partnerships, having already raised over $2 million for its first phase. The total estimated cost for the full project is $16 million. The completed trail will feature lighting, music, Wi-Fi, parking at the trailhead, and informational signage. Future plans within the next five years include designated seating areas, a playground with accessible equipment for children with mobility issues, an amphitheater, and an outdoor workout station. Ultimately, the Wellness Trail is designed to connect with Lake County’s larger trail system, encouraging community members to engage in at least 30 minutes of daily exercise.
