Thermos Recalls Over 8 Million Products Due to Serious Injury Risk
Thermos, a well-known manufacturer of insulated food and beverage containers, has initiated a voluntary recall of over 8 million jars and bottles. This action follows reports of serious injuries, including three cases of permanent vision loss. The recall, announced on April 30, is due to a malfunction where the stopper of the containers can forcefully eject if perishable contents are stored for extended periods, posing impact and laceration hazards. The affected products include approximately 5.8 million Stainless King Food Jars and 2.3 million Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles. These items, sold at major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon, were manufactured before July 2023. Thermos has received 27 reports of injuries related to this issue. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled products and contact Thermos for a remedy, which involves sending a photo of the disposed stopper or returning the bottle for a replacement.
