Manitoba Reports Decline in Measles Cases Amid Ongoing Outbreak
In Manitoba, Canada, health officials report a significant decline in measles cases, with only two confirmed cases in July, down from a high of 177 cases in February. Despite the decrease, Manitoba remains the province with the highest number of measles cases in Canada for 2026, with a total of 608 confirmed cases and 79 probable cases reported this year. The outbreak, which began in February of the previous year, has led to 52 hospitalizations, including 26 children under the age of 10. Most hospitalized individuals were either not immunized or had unknown vaccination histories. The virus spreads through droplets in the air and can linger for up to two hours, making it highly contagious.
