The Trump administration is contemplating the imposition of new tariffs as part of its ongoing protectionist trade agenda. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer indicated that action on tariffs could be imminent, as the administration seeks to revive its trade policies after setbacks earlier this year. Concurrently, the U.S. is engaged in an escalating AI competition with China, with concerns over potential intellectual property theft by Chinese AI models from American companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has suggested that sanctions could be imposed if evidence of such theft is found. Additionally, the U.S. Central Command has conducted military strikes in Iran for the 11th consecutive night, amidst efforts by regional mediators to propose a 10-day ceasefire.
