New AI Image Models Boost App Downloads by 6.5 Times
Recent data from Appfigures indicates that artificial intelligence image generation models are significantly driving mobile app growth. These models have increased app downloads by 6.5 times compared to traditional updates. Notably, apps like ChatGPT and Google Gemini have seen tens of millions of new downloads following the introduction of their image models. For instance, the Google Gemini app experienced over 22 million additional downloads after launching the Nano Banana image model, while ChatGPT gained over 12 million installations with its GPT-4o image model. Despite the surge in downloads, the report notes that this does not always translate into increased revenue, as users may not convert to paid subscribers.
