Collins Aerospace Secures $472 Million U.S. Army Contract for Chinook Helicopter Modernization
Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army valued at up to $472 million. This contract is designated for providing engineering services aimed at modernizing and sustaining the CH-47 Chinook helicopter fleet. The scope of work includes delivering avionics upgrades to facilitate the integration of new capabilities, address obsolescence issues, and enhance the aircraft's avionics architecture. These efforts are crucial for maintaining mission readiness in a rapidly evolving operational environment. Jenny Miller, vice president and general manager of Vision and Sensing Systems at Collins Aerospace, emphasized that the company's advanced avionics integrate communication, navigation, and mission subsystems into a flexible, interoperable cockpit designed for current operational demands. Collins Aerospace was formed in 2018 through the merger of Rockwell Collins and UTC Aerospace Systems and is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
