ECOWAS Leaders Endorse $25 Billion Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project
Leaders from the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) have officially endorsed the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at transporting Nigerian gas to Europe. The project, which spans 6,800 kilometers, will pass through 13 countries along the West African coast before connecting to European networks via Morocco and Spain. This endorsement provides the project with a sovereign foundation to transition from strategic planning to implementation. The pipeline is expected to play a crucial role in Africa's industrialization and economic transformation by positioning gas as a key energy source. The renewed interest from Europe in this project is partly due to energy concerns exacerbated by conflicts in the Middle East.
