Rally Against NYC Mayor Mamdani's Rhetoric and Antisemitism Held Ahead of Netanyahu Visit
Approximately 150 students and Jewish leaders gathered outside Gracie Mansion in New York City on Friday to protest Mayor Zohran Mamdani's rhetoric and alleged antisemitism. The rally took place a week before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's scheduled visit to the UN in Manhattan. Protesters recited prayers, chanted, and voiced their concerns regarding Mayor Mamdani's past comments, particularly his statement in July about seeking a legal loophole to arrest Netanyahu for alleged war crimes. Actor Michael Rapaport was among the attendees, criticizing Mayor Mamdani's leadership. A smaller group of anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews also held a counter-protest nearby. The NYPD has indicated heightened security measures will be in place throughout the city for the upcoming UN session, though no specific threats have been identified.
