St. Lucia's Agriculture Department Launches Snake Risk Management Framework
The Department of Agriculture in St. Lucia has introduced a National Snake Risk Management Framework aimed at enhancing public safety and managing snake encounters. The framework focuses on prevention, preparedness, and risk reduction, particularly concerning the endemic Saint Lucia Fer-de-Lance snake. Dr. Donatian Gustave, Acting Chief Forest Officer, emphasized the importance of public safety and the need for accurate information. The initiative includes public education, emergency response coordination, and measures to reduce snake encounters in high-risk areas.
