Air Europa Expands Colombian Network with New Barranquilla Route
Air Europa is set to launch a new nonstop flight route from Madrid to Barranquilla, Colombia, starting December 18. This will be the first direct connection between Barranquilla and Europe, operated thrice weekly using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The new route will add approximately 1,800 two-way seats per week, complementing Air Europa's existing services to Bogota and Medellin. The airline's expansion is part of a broader strategy to increase its presence in Latin America, with a total of 1.96 million two-way seats available on 21 routes from Madrid to Latin America during the summer 2026 season. This represents a 3.6% increase from the previous year. The expansion comes amid a slight contraction in the overall Colombia-Europe market, where available seats have decreased by 2.7% compared to the previous year.
