United Nations Development Programme and GSMA Partner to Advance AI in Africa
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the GSMA have formed a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering Africa's artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. This collaboration seeks to scale African-led AI solutions, including those developed in African languages. The initiative will connect African innovators with essential resources such as computing infrastructure, necessary skills, industry networks, and opportunities to develop and deploy AI applications tailored to local priorities. Through UNDP’s 'timbuktoo' initiative, the two organizations plan to support priority AI pilot projects and identify sustainable pathways for their long-term growth and expansion.
