Wisconsin Launches Statewide Gravel Cycling Network to Boost Tourism and Recreation
Wisconsin has introduced a statewide gravel cycling network named Wisconsin Gravel, aimed at enhancing outdoor recreation and tourism. The initiative features over 1,000 miles of red granite roads and 16 established routes in the Granite Belt region, spanning Marathon, Lincoln, Langlade, and Shawano counties. This network connects existing rural infrastructure, such as dairy roads and logging routes, into a cohesive system that promotes tourism and supports local economies. The launch coincides with expanded marketing efforts and partnerships with cycling organizations, alongside events like National Trails Day and Bike Month. The initiative is designed to position Wisconsin as a top destination for gravel biking enthusiasts.
