Michigan Department of Corrections Reinforces Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives
The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is actively strengthening its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) mission, aiming to cultivate a respectful and inclusive work environment. Key tasks under this initiative include normalizing conversations around DEI within the department, supporting DEI Teams at various worksites, and creating inclusive employee recognition opportunities. The MDOC is also reviewing existing policies and procedures related to DEI, establishing and supporting Employee Resource Groups/Affinity Groups, and developing new DEI learning and training opportunities for its staff. The department emphasizes its commitment to these principles, which are underpinned by its DEI Tenants: Respect, Responsible, and Resilience. Employees seeking more information can access the MDOC DEI SharePoint page or contact the MDOC DEI Officer, Tanisha Black.
