The Chinese box office experienced a significant resurgence during the May Day weekend, with the suspense thriller 'Vanishing Point' leading the charge. The film, directed by Cheng Wei-hao, earned RMB164.7 million ($24.2 million) in its opening weekend. The prequel 'Cold War 1994' secured the second spot with $21.2 million, while 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' debuted in third place with $6.1 million. The overall box office gross for the weekend reached $74.5 million, marking a sharp rebound from a sluggish April. This resurgence is attributed to the holiday slate, which significantly boosted the market's output.
