Red Flag Fire Alert Lifted for 25 Counties in South Carolina
The South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) has lifted the Red Flag Fire Alert for 25 counties, which was initially issued statewide. Despite the lifting of the alert for the eastern half of the state, conditions remain volatile in the western regions, including Richland County and areas westward. The alert continues in these areas due to persistent dry and windy conditions that favor the spread of wildfires. Barnwell County is the southern-most area still under alert. Residents are advised to exercise caution when considering outdoor burning, as the conditions are not ideal. State law mandates that anyone planning to burn outdoors outside city limits must notify the Forestry Commission and adhere to safety precautions.
