Azerbaijan-Switzerland Partnership Advances Amid Armenia Peace Process
On August 4, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, met with Ignazio Cassis, the Swiss Federal Councillor and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, in Baku. The discussions focused on Azerbaijan-Switzerland relations, OSCE priorities, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process. Bayramov emphasized that a de facto peace exists between Azerbaijan and Armenia, achieved through direct negotiations. He reiterated Azerbaijan's stance that a final peace agreement requires Armenia to remove constitutional provisions perceived as territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Cassis expressed Switzerland's support for the peace process and highlighted the potential for lasting peace. The meeting also covered economic cooperation, with Switzerland investing $1.6 billion in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan investing $2.3 billion in Switzerland.
