U.S. Among Countries Approving Lab-Grown Meat Sales Amid Global Development
The United States has approved the sale of cultivated meat for human consumption, joining Singapore and Australia. This development places the U.S. among a select group of nations embracing this alternative protein source. Cultivated meat, also known as lab-grown meat, is produced by growing animal cells in laboratories, offering an alternative to conventionally farmed meat. This method aims to address challenges associated with traditional meat production, such as environmental impact and animal welfare concerns. While China is a major player in cultivated meat research and development, with significant advancements in pilot plant operations and scaled trial productions, it has not yet approved its sale for human consumption. However, experts suggest China could become the largest market due to its biotechnology and manufacturing infrastructure.
