New Framework for Autonomous Robots Addresses Rule Conflicts
Researchers at Iowa State University have developed a new framework for autonomous robots to handle situations where rules conflict. The framework, known as 'rulebooks,' ranks goals instead of blending them, allowing robots to prioritize actions based on importance. This approach addresses issues with current systems that use a single mathematical cost function, which can lead to unsafe decisions.
