Columbus Police Investigate Possible Self-Defense Shooting Resulting in Man's Death
Columbus police have identified Zharrick Marquel Niece, 31, as the victim of a shooting that occurred on May 30 on the city's Northeast Side. Officers responded to a call at the 2700 block of Wedge Street at 1:35 p.m., where they found Niece with a gunshot wound in the front room of a home. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m. The incident is being investigated as a possible self-defense case. All persons of interest have been detained or interviewed, and the investigation will be forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office for presentation to a grand jury.
