NBCC and Agriculture Stakeholders Advocate for Policy Reforms to Address Nigeria's Food Crisis
The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) and various agriculture stakeholders convened at the Agriculture and Agro-Allied Summit 2026 in Lagos to address Nigeria's escalating food security issues. The summit emphasized the need for innovation, investment, and policy reforms to create a resilient agricultural system capable of meeting the country's increasing food demands. Despite Nigeria's vast arable land and youthful population, challenges such as climate change, supply chain inefficiencies, and limited access to finance persist. Stakeholders called for policy reforms to improve agricultural financing, land administration, and infrastructure to reduce post-harvest losses. The summit also highlighted the potential of global trade opportunities, such as the UK's Developing Countries Trading Scheme, to boost Nigeria's agro-exports.
