IRS to Promote Saver's Match Program Under TrumpIRA Initiative
The Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department are set to promote the federal Saver's Match program as part of the TrumpIRA initiative. This program, enacted under the SECURE 2.0 Act, replaces the Saver's Credit and offers a 50% match on the first $2,000 of retirement savings contributions, up to $1,000 annually, for eligible taxpayers. The program aims to enhance retirement savings for low- and moderate-income Americans. The TrumpIRA.gov website, launching in 2027, will provide information on low-cost IRAs, targeting workers without employer-sponsored retirement plans. The IRS plans to propose regulations for the program, with contributions starting in 2028 based on 2027 tax year contributions.
