Southwest Heat Wave to Bring Temperatures Above 115°F
A dangerous heat wave is intensifying across the western United States, with temperatures expected to exceed 115°F (46°C) in cities like Las Vegas and Phoenix over the coming days. The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat watches, warnings, and advisories for areas including the L.A. Basin, Salt Lake City, and the Great Basin. Death Valley, known as the hottest place in North America, may see temperatures nearing 125°F (52°C). This heat wave is part of an already record-breaking summer, with cities like Phoenix experiencing 12 days in July with highs of 110°F (43°C) or more. The heat is expected to peak over the weekend and persist into the first week of August, with minimal overnight relief as lows in some areas may only drop to the 90s (32-37°C).
