U.S. Ambassador Highlights Canadian Oil as Key to U.S. Energy Needs
U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Pete Hoekstra, emphasized the potential of Alberta and Saskatchewan to meet the United States' oil needs. Speaking at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region's annual summit in Edmonton, Hoekstra noted that the U.S. requires an additional three to four million barrels of oil per day over the next decade. He stated that Canada is a prime candidate to fulfill this demand. Despite eagerness from President Trump's cabinet to secure a deal for more Canadian oil, Hoekstra acknowledged that the U.S. has other options and negotiations are ongoing.
