Central Bank of Syria Launches Strategy to Modernize Financial Systems Amid Reconstruction Efforts
The Central Bank of Syria has initiated a comprehensive strategy aimed at modernizing the country's financial systems as part of its 2026-2030 plan. This strategy focuses on enhancing digital payment infrastructure, expanding financial inclusion, and reforming the foreign exchange market. The move comes as Syria seeks to rebuild its financial architecture following years of conflict that severely damaged its banking sector. International financial companies, such as Visa and QNB Group, are collaborating with Syria to develop its digital payments ecosystem, marking a significant step towards reintegrating Syria into the global financial system. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is also providing technical assistance to support these efforts.
