Arkansas Department of Agriculture Distributes Over 12,350 Tree Seedlings to Promote Native Species
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture successfully completed its sixth annual Free Tree Fridays campaign, distributing 12,350 tree seedlings across the state. The initiative, which took place from March 20 to April 24, involved 30 events and engaged 3,200 participants. The campaign aims to promote the benefits of trees and encourage the use of native species such as shumard oak, overcup oak, sycamore, and pecan. Kristine Kimbro, Urban and Community Forestry Coordinator, emphasized the importance of trees for community well-being. The campaign, which began in 2021, is supported by the U.S. Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program and the Arkansas Urban Forestry Council.
