Google Maps Introduces AI-Driven Takeout Ordering Feature
Google Maps has launched a new feature that allows users to order takeout while on their way home using the Ask Maps AI agent. This feature enables users to request specific dishes, and the AI will find open restaurants along their route that meet their criteria, considering saved places and dietary needs. Once a restaurant is selected, the AI can add the dish to the user's cart for review and completion. This service is integrated with partners like Square and Toast, with Uber Eats integration expected soon. The feature aims to streamline the takeout ordering process, particularly for users unfamiliar with local dining options.
