Montana Department of Agriculture Awards Funding to Three Forks Farm for Operational Support
The Montana Department of Agriculture has allocated over $800,000 to support 17 agricultural businesses, including Living Sky Grains, a family-run farm in Three Forks. Franck and Kari Groeneweg, who moved from Saskatchewan, Canada to Montana in 2020, operate the farm. They have been facing challenges due to severe drought conditions affecting Gallatin County, impacting crops like hay, wheat, and livestock. The Groenewegs are focusing on regenerative agriculture to improve soil health and moisture retention. The farm received a grant and loan through the Growth Through Agriculture program, which requires matching investment. The funding, totaling over $85,000, will be used to upgrade equipment, enhance packaging, and strengthen marketing efforts.
