Congressman Meuser Backs Agriculture Funding Bill Benefiting Schuylkill County Courthouse
Congressman Dan Meuser has expressed his support for the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This spending bill, which narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a 213-210 vote, includes $1.6 million earmarked for renovations to the Schuylkill County Courthouse in Pottsville. The funding is intended to modernize the courthouse by upgrading elevators, replacing exterior doors and windows, installing new HVAC units, and repairing retaining walls. The bill also supports major federal nutrition programs and allocates significant funds for agricultural research and rural development. The legislation now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate.
