FDA Classifies Ice Cream Recall Due to Undeclared Allergens
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified a recall of Zarlengo-branded gelato products as a Class II recall due to undeclared soy allergens. The recall affects over 2,200 containers of gelato distributed in Illinois, Indiana, and Texas. The products, which include various flavors and sizes, failed to declare soy lecithin in the 'Contains' statement, a requirement under federal food safety laws. The recall was initiated by the company after identifying the labeling issue, and the FDA has not yet terminated the recall, indicating ongoing efforts to remove affected products from the market.
