First Multipurpose Cargo Vessel Adopts Wind-Assisted Propulsion
The Na Hiro E Pae, a new multipurpose cargo vessel, has become the first of its kind to be equipped with wind-assisted propulsion technology. Developed by Spanish company bound4blue, the eSail system installed on the vessel uses a 22-meter tall suction sail to harness wind power, significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The vessel, owned by Greek shipping company Société de Navigation des Australes SNA Tuha’a Pae, will operate between Tahiti and the Austral Islands, transporting passengers and cargo. This innovation represents a significant step forward in sustainable maritime transport.
