Essence Healthcare and Oura Expand Partnership to Enhance Sleep Apnea Detection for Seniors
Essence Healthcare, a Medicare Advantage insurer, is expanding its partnership with Oura to enhance the detection of sleep apnea among its members. The collaboration involves a new clinical program that utilizes the Oura Ring to monitor patients' nighttime breathing patterns, identifying those at risk for obstructive sleep apnea. This initiative is particularly significant as sleep apnea affects 20% to 30% of adults over 65, with 80% of cases undiagnosed. The program integrates data from the Oura Ring with Essence's systems, allowing physicians to receive insights and guide patients through the STOP-BANG screening process. This proactive approach aims to improve diagnosis and treatment, potentially leading to better health outcomes for seniors.
