Taylor Farms Recalls Iceberg Lettuce Amid Cyclosporiasis Outbreak in the U.S.
Taylor Fresh Foods has announced the voluntary removal of all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market due to a cyclosporiasis outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have linked the outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in several states, including Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. The outbreak has resulted in over 1,644 confirmed cases nationwide, with 94 hospitalizations. Taylor Farms, a major supplier of fruits and vegetables, is taking precautionary measures by removing all lettuce from the implicated region, despite the farm in question representing less than 1% of the U.S. iceberg lettuce supply.
