Federal Government Faces Lawsuit Over DACA Termination for Deported Texas Mother
Jessica Treviño, a 34-year-old mother from Texas, has filed a lawsuit against the federal government after her Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status was terminated due to 'unauthorized travel.' Treviño, who was deported to Mexico in March 2026, had been living in the U.S. legally under DACA, a program that allows individuals brought to the U.S. as children to remain temporarily and obtain work permits. Her deportation followed an arrest in December when federal agents detained her and her husband in a Home Depot parking lot in South Texas. Despite having a valid DACA status until April 2027, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services cited her deportation as unauthorized travel, leading to the termination of her status. Treviño's attorney, David Rozas, has petitioned a federal judge to declare her expulsion unlawful and to facilitate her return to the U.S.
