Ohio Launches Online Hub to Streamline Resources for Older Residents
Ohio has introduced the Ohio Aging Compass, an online tool designed to assist older residents and their caregivers in accessing vital information and resources. This initiative comes as the state's population of individuals over 65 is projected to reach 25% by 2040. The platform features a navigator for comparing over 1,700 long-term care facilities, a resource hub with articles and local services, and a data dashboard on older Ohioans. Ursel McElroy, Director of the Department of Aging, emphasized the tool's role in simplifying access to scattered resources. Additionally, the platform includes a feature to identify businesses offering discounts to those 60 and older, and highlights upcoming healthy aging events. The state is also exploring the integration of AI to further assist users in navigating the platform. For those without internet access, local agency workers are available by phone to provide assistance.
