New Energy Labeling System for Household Appliances Introduced in Ukraine
Ukraine has adopted new technical regulations for energy labeling of household appliances, aligning with changes implemented in the EU in 2021. This new system aims to provide consumers with more detailed product information and facilitate the selection of energy-efficient appliances, thereby reducing household energy consumption and costs. The primary change involves a return to a simpler A to G scale, abolishing the '+++' symbols previously used (e.g., A+, A++, A+++). This adjustment creates space for future technological advancements, as the highest 'A' class is initially reserved for the most advanced technologies. The new labeling system specifically applies to washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigeration and freezing equipment. Additionally, new labels now include a QR code, allowing users to access an official database for detailed technical specifications and energy consumption levels before making a purchase.
