Startups Transform Pentagon's Drone Industry with Innovative Solutions
The Pentagon's drone industry is undergoing a transformation driven by startups, as evidenced by the recent Drone Dominance competition. This $1.1 billion program aims to bolster the domestic drone industry by evaluating small unmanned aircraft systems on performance and scalability. Out of 49 companies, 19 advanced to the next round, showcasing the rapid evolution of defense technology. These startups, many of which are young and privately held, are developing diverse components such as airframes, sensors, and autonomy software, contributing to a comprehensive military capability.
