Floci Offers Free Local AWS Emulation for Developers
Floci, a new open-source local AWS emulator, provides developers with the ability to run AWS-compatible services on their local machines without requiring a cloud account or authentication tokens. This tool supports a wide range of AWS services, including Lambda, RDS, and ElastiCache, using real Docker-backed execution for high fidelity. Floci aims to be a no-strings-attached alternative to LocalStack, which recently required authentication tokens and froze security updates. Developers can use Floci to maintain their existing workflows with AWS SDKs, CLI, and other tools, making it a practical solution for local development and testing.
