Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flood Threat Target Florida and Southeast
An active weather system has brought a surge of tropical moisture across Florida and parts of the Southeast, leading to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the coming days. According to FOX Weather, this system is pulling moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic, creating conditions for repeated downpours. A Level 1 flash flood threat extends from eastern Kansas to the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic coasts of Georgia and South Carolina. A more significant Level 2 threat is in place for northern Georgia, including Atlanta, where soils are already saturated from earlier storms. Rainfall totals are expected to reach 2 to 3 inches in parts of coastal South Carolina and Georgia, with some areas receiving up to 5 inches by next Thursday. This weather pattern follows similar conditions in Texas earlier in the week, which caused flash flooding and water rescues.
