McDonald County School System Implements Wellness Program for Teachers Ahead of School Year
The McDonald County School System has launched its third annual 'Power Up' wellness event for teachers and staff, offering professional development and health screenings before the new school year. This initiative provides educators with opportunities beyond typical professional development, focusing on their overall well-being. Participants engaged in various activities, including line dancing, AI classroom training, blood pressure checks, body composition assessments, bone density testing, and financial workshops. Superintendent Eric Findley emphasized the importance of teachers prioritizing their health to be effective educators. The event aims to promote self-care among staff, with wellness screenings and health-focused activities sending a clear message about the value of personal health. Previous years' offerings included trauma-informed behavior training and mental health resources, indicating a consistent focus on comprehensive well-being.
