Jewish Authors Criticize Chicago Literary Festival Scheduled on Rosh Hashanah
Jewish authors have expressed dismay over the scheduling of the Printers Row Lit Fest, a major outdoor literary festival in Chicago, during Rosh Hashanah on September 12 and 13. The festival, which attracts thousands of authors and book lovers, announced its dates in April. However, the overlap with the Jewish High Holy Days has raised concerns about antisemitism in the publishing world. Brian Berg, a spokesman for the festival, cited scheduling difficulties as the reason for the conflict. Jewish authors, including Lisa Barr and S.L. Wisenberg, have voiced their disappointment, noting the scheduling forces a choice between religious observance and participation in the festival.
