Consumer Reports Highlights Risks of Oven Door Glass Shattering
Consumer Reports has issued a warning about the potential for oven door glass to shatter spontaneously. The report, based on data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, identified nearly 400 incidents of glass shattering in ovens between January 2025 and March 2026, with over 40 injuries reported. Frigidaire models accounted for the majority of these incidents, though other brands like GE, Samsung, Whirlpool, and LG were also mentioned. The report emphasizes the need for manufacturers to address this issue, as the glass used in oven doors, while tempered, can still break due to stress and micro-cracks.
