Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Receives $2 Million Grant for Prisoner Reentry Program
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) has been awarded a new $2 million grant, named RESTART, to assist Wyomingites reentering the workforce after serving time in jail or prison. RESTART, which stands for Reentry Employment in Skilled Trades, Advanced Manufacturing, Registered Apprenticeships and Training, aims to help inmates aged 25 and older prepare for and secure employment upon their release. The grant was provided by the U.S. Department of Labor and is set to launch in January 2027. Services will be offered at various stages, including before release, where individuals can receive assistance with identification documents, commercial driver's license permit preparation, and digital skills training. After release, participants will have access to career counseling, peer support, and help with employment barriers, including connections to jobs or paid on-the-job training with follow-up services for up to 12 months.
