UK CCS Project Advances Toward Offshore CO2 Storage Milestone
Spirit Energy has reached a regulatory milestone for its Morecambe Net Zero Peak Cluster carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. The UK's North Sea Transition Authority approved the project's progression into the Assess Phase of its carbon storage license. This development aims to repurpose depleted gas fields in the East Irish Sea for large-scale CO2 storage. The project, in partnership with Peak Cluster, plans to store up to 3 million tonnes of CO2 annually, targeting emissions from industrial sectors.
