Taylor Sheridan and John Nau III to Receive History-Making Texan Award in 2027
Filmmaker Taylor Sheridan and philanthropist John L. Nau III are slated to receive the History-Making Texan Award at the 23rd annual Texas Independence Day Dinner. The event, hosted by the Texas State History Museum Foundation, is scheduled for March 2, 2027, at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. Debbie Raynor of Dallas will chair the dinner, with Jan Felts Bullock of Austin serving as honorary chair. The award recognizes living Texans whose contributions to the state and nation are deemed historic and exceptional. Proceeds from the annual dinner support educational programs and special projects at the Bullock Museum. According to Raynor, both honorees have significantly elevated Texas's standing nationally and internationally, with Nau contributing through historic preservation and Sheridan through storytelling that brings Texas and the American West to global audiences.
